INDEX.BTR

The WMI repository's B-tree index: text keys made of hashed namespace, class and instance names that point to records in OBJECTS.DATA.

INDEX.BTR is the B-tree index of the CIM repository, in 8 KiB pages. Its keys look like NS_<hash>/CI_<hash>/IL_<hash>.<page>.<record>.<length>: a namespace, a class, an instance, and where the record sits in OBJECTS.DATA.

The hashes are SHA-256 (MD5 on XP) of the upper-cased names, so the index never shows a readable name. Together with the current MAPPING file, it tells which records are live.
